Dongfeng Nissan teases NX7, its fourth N-series model, with LiDAR on roof

Dongfeng Nissan, Nissan Motor's joint venture in China, has teased a new model as it steps up its push in the world's largest electric vehicle (EV) market.

Dongfeng Nissan released a teaser poster on Wednesday, confirming that the new NX7 from its N series is coming soon.

The teaser shows only part of the vehicle's front end, indicating that the NX7 will carry forward the N series' family design language.

The front features split headlights, with a full-width light bar at the top and an illuminated brand logo in the center.

The most notable detail is on the roof, where a prominent LiDAR unit suggests that the vehicle will offer advanced driver-assistance capabilities.

Based on the features available on the brand's NX8, the NX7 is expected to support highway navigation-assisted driving, urban navigation-assisted driving and intelligent assisted parking.

Judging by its name, the NX7 is likely part of the same SUV lineup as the NX8. It may also be offered with both battery electric and extended-range powertrains, while carrying a lower price than the NX8.

The NX8 was launched on April 8 with official starting prices ranging from 159,900 yuan ($23,560) to 209,900 yuan. Its limited-time starting price after incentives is 149,900 yuan.

The model measures 4,870 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,917 mm.

It is built on an 800-volt silicon carbide platform and uses lithium iron phosphate batteries supplied by CATL (HKEX: 3750), supporting 5C ultra-fast charging.

The NX7 will become the fourth model in the N series. The lineup currently includes the N7 battery electric sedan, the N6 plug-in hybrid sedan and the NX8 SUV.

With the addition of the NX7, Dongfeng Nissan will have 2 new energy vehicle models in each of the sedan and SUV segments.

Retail sales of the N series reached 9,316 units in June, up 50.53% year-on-year and 16.06% from May, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) compiled by CnEVPost.

The N series recorded cumulative retail sales of 33,590 units in the first half of the year. Since sales began in April last year, cumulative retail sales have reached 86,359 units.

Its monthly sales record was set in August last year, when retail sales reached 10,148 units.
