BYD Fang Cheng Bao tops 500,000 cumulative sales in under 3 years

Fang Cheng Bao , the personalized sub-brand under BYD (HKEX: 1211), said on Wednesday that its cumulative sales have topped 500,000 units, coinciding with the brand's third anniversary.

As of July 31, the brand's cumulative sales stood at 497,424 units, according to data compiled by CnEVPost. That implies it has sold 2,576 vehicles so far this month.

Fang Cheng Bao's sales pace is accelerating. The brand reached 300,000 units on January 15 this year and passed 400,000 in May, then added another 100,000 in about three months.

BYD launched the Fang Cheng Bao brand in August 2023 , positioning it between the mass-market Dynasty and Ocean lineup and the ultra-premium Yangwang brand.

Its first model, the Bao 5, went on sale in November 2023 , targeting the rugged SUV (sport utility vehicle) market. Its second model, the Bao 8 off-road SUV, went on sale in November 2024 .

The brand's sales acceleration came after the launch of the Tai series, which targets urban and family needs at lower prices, and its sales volume far exceeds that of the off-road-oriented Bao series.

The Tai 3 went on sale in April 2025 and the Tai 7 in September of the same year. The latter quickly became the brand's sales mainstay.

The Tai 7 has sold more than 210,000 units in about 11 months since its launch, including 27,320 deliveries in July.

Fang Cheng Bao's total sales in July were 41,213 units, up 190.6% year-on-year and 15.7% from June. In the first seven months of this year, it sold 200,687 vehicles, up 167.9% year-on-year.

The brand's average transaction price exceeded 223,000 yuan ($32,850), Fang Cheng Bao said earlier this month.

That figure is lower than the 238,800 yuan disclosed in October 2025, reflecting the rising share of the lower-priced Tai series in the sales mix.

Fang Cheng Bao is still expanding its lineup, having just teased the Tai 9 earlier this week. The Tai 9 is a boxy full-size SUV measuring more than 5.3 meters long with a wheelbase of over 3.1 meters, making it larger than the Bao 8.

The brand released the first official teaser video for the Tai 9 on August 2 . Xiong Tianbo, general manager of the Fang Cheng Bao division, said on Weibo that the wait "won't be long."

Its first sedan lineup, the Formula S, is also set to go on sale in the second half of the year, including the Formula S sedan and the Formula S GT shooting brake.

In addition, the Shark plug-in hybrid pickup, currently sold only overseas, completed a Chinese regulatory filing in July , paving the way for its launch in the domestic market.
