Dongfeng Nissan, Nissan Motor's joint venture in China, released official images of the NX7 on Thursday, revealing the full exterior design of the new SUV (sport utility vehicle).

The move came one day after the company teased the vehicle . The NX7 will become the fourth model in its N series.

The new model features a redesigned front end with split headlights, departing from the current full-width light bar of the N series.

A LiDAR unit is clearly visible on the roof, indicating that the vehicle will offer advanced driver-assistance capabilities.

Other design details include a floating roof, semi-hidden door handles and aerodynamic wheels.

The Nissan badges at both the front and rear are illuminated. The rear features a full-width light bar with a segmented internal design.

The NX7 has a sportier appearance than the NX8 and is also more compact, suggesting it will be positioned as a mid-size SUV.

Based on its name, the NX7 belongs to the same SUV product line as the NX8 and is expected to offer both battery electric and extended-range powertrain options. Its starting price is likely to be lower than that of the NX8.

The NX8 was launched on April 8 with an official price range of 159,900 yuan ($23,550) to 209,900 yuan. Its limited-time starting price is 149,900 yuan after incentives.

The model is built on an 800-volt silicon carbide platform and uses lithium iron phosphate batteries supplied by CATL (HKEX: 3750), supporting 5C ultra-fast charging.

The N series currently includes the N7 battery electric sedan, the N6 plug-in hybrid sedan and the NX8 SUV.

With the addition of the NX7, Dongfeng Nissan will have 2 models in each of the new energy sedan and SUV segments.

The N series recorded retail sales of 9,316 units in June, up 50.53% year-on-year and 16.06% from May, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) compiled by CnEVPost.

Retail sales of the series totaled 33,590 units in the first half of the year. Cumulative sales have reached 86,359 units since deliveries began in April last year.
